Centerpieces: part 1 of Home Decoration

So.. our kitchen is pretty small so I started with the biggest space, the dining room; which is basically in the kitchen. Most people have a center piece on their dining table, and ours is the napkins right now. I looked at some centerpieces, but they seemed pretty drab.  :/ So I thought of a totally different idea other than just a fruit bowl. So I thought, well it doesn't have to be that complecated.. how about just some flowers, but in a unique vase.. maybe like a glass jug with some figurines or something on the bottom?

you could even put a fish in the bottom like this!!

or if your kitchen is big enough, you could start a window sill garden with lots of different plants
and unique vases!!!

Nwoodles!

I went to Noodles and Company yesterday, and honestly, I am obsessed with their food!! One of my favorite foods is pasta and at Noodles and Co. they have a huge variety of like ways it is served. I had the Pesto Cavatapi (or however you spell that!) with the parmesan chicken, and without the mushyrooms (yuccccccccky!) and it was soooo good. They basically put pesto and a cream on the noodles, sprinkle some cheese, and crust the chicken with parmesan, and voila! The other dishes I have tried and like there is the Wisconsin Mac n' Cheese and Buttered Noodles. So I encourage you to try it, its delicious!! :)

Interior Deco: DIY bottle lights

I got the inspiration for this when I was drinking Izze soda which is in a glass bottle. :) I also had this artificial flower, so I thought it would be cool to put the petals and other decorating stuff in the bottle and hang it up with a fringy kind of rope or just like with some candles. Then I got the idea to hang it up with tea lights inside or some light bulbs. Found out you cant really put a light bulb into the bottle unfortunately. But, after I looked it up online I found (and impovised..) some instructions to do the project and what materials are needed.

Materials:
A glass bottle (wine bottle shaped)
Drill
Gloves and Safety Goggles/ Glasses
Lamp kit
Light Bulb
Rope
Duct tape or piping tape
Spray paint (optional)
Marbles or any kind of "fill item" like that
Cool lamp shade (optional, in my opinion, it looks more modern and creative without it, but its up 2 u!)
Screws/nails and piece of metal (optional)
Huge hammer!, like the ones used for hammering in tent pegs

How to do it: (easier explained video beneath this) ;)
1. Tape the neck of the bottle and spray paint that part
2. Drill a hole in the back of the bottle
3. Insert the lamp kit cord into the bottle from the bottom
4. Place the spacer (from lamp kit)  into the bottle neck and add tape if needed
5. Add marbles or whatever item you have into the bottle, filling the whole bottle.
6. Mount base plate (from lamp kit) against the top of the bottle and secure with light fixture
7. Attach wiring onto the base plate
8. Add the lamp shade on top or if you want to go with my idea, tie rope (very!!!) securely around bottle neck. Next, take your flat metal piece and hammer the sides of it so the rope can be secured on the ceiling. Then, screw it onto the ceiling on both sides with your nails and if you want, spray paint it the color of your ceiling and plug it in. If it does not feel secure on the ceiling and/or the bottle pleeease remove because it wouldnt be good if it feel and shattered all over the floor!! that would be a messy clean up :/

Some summer picks

i'm going to do a summer haul post later, but I wanted to share some summer picks with you already! hope everyone is enjoying summer and the weather too...

look at bottom of all the pictures for descriptions :)

Descriptions

Carried away lotion- smells sweet and fresh, and mosturizes skin well

B&B surf spray- Gives your  waves a messy, beachy, texturized look

Oribe dry texturizing spray- adds volume and texture to blahish hair

Brazilian Keratin Therapy spray, shampoo, and conditioner by organix- I don't use the shampoo and the conditioner, but the spray alone works so well! Protects hair and keeps straight.
LA looks cashmere curls- For curly hair, this is a must. This gel is totally awesome, it moisturizes, keeps locks in place, and prevents frizz, all in one bottle!!

Mane n' Tail anti- dandruff shampoo- I used to have a bit of dandruff, but this shampoo completely takes all of it away! I use the olive oil one for xtra moistursing, but I'm sure the regular one works just as well. As long as you keep on using it, your dandruff should never be seen again yaaay! Even if you don't have dandruff, this is a great way to moisturize your scalp.

Coconut oil- Summer brings humidity, which usually brings dry hair. Get your smooth hair back with using this coconut oil! All you have to do is let it get to an ice creamy texture, then massage into hair. After that, put on a shower cap and leave it that way for several hours or overnight, then wash out. P.S. there are tutorials for this on youtube too! ;)

Hand Food lotion- this lotion is so amazing! i have really dry hands, kind of mild exema (or however you spell that..) which a lot of people have, but can't find a mild yet effective lotion, and this one is just perfect! If you use it at least once a day, I promise your hands will be a lot softer already, and it gets even better overtime.

Neutrogena Acne face and body washes- These washes smell sooo good, they are grapefruit scented! Plus, they help with acne on your face and body without overdrying your skin.

Olay complete UV moisturizer- I love this moistureizer so much because it has SPF 15 to keep the rays from damaging your skin, but it isn't sticky after I put it on and helps with my oily skin.

Covergirl Natureluxe gloss balm- light color shades without heavy synthetics, and smooths lips rather than dry it out like lipstick.

Benefit Cosmetics Posie Tint- A liquid blush that can be applied to lips and cheeks. such a cute pink color!

Benefit Cosmetics Watt's Up!-  such a cute little highlighter that really does "light up" cheekbones, especially with blush or posie tint (above) applied.

Feng shui, hard to understand defintions, hobbies, summer, and life, wow this is a very long title and i'm even making it longer XD

So what is so awesome about feng shui, and what does it even mean, well I just learned both of those things today.

Definition-
Feng shui (Listeni/ˌfʌŋ ˈʃw/ fung-SHWAY,[1] formerly /ˈfʌŋ ˌʃi/ FUNG-shoo-ee;[2] Chinese: 風水, pronounced [fɤ́ŋ ʂwèi]), or Fung shui, is a Chinese system of geomancy believed to use the laws of both Heaven (Chinese astronomy) and Earth to help one improve life by receiving positive qi.[3] The original designation for the discipline is Kan Yu (simplified Chinese: 堪舆; traditional Chinese: 堪輿; pinyin: kānyú; literally: Tao of heaven and earth).[4]
The term feng shui literally translates as "wind-water" in English. This is a cultural shorthand taken from the following passage of the Zangshu (Book of Burial) by Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty

whaaaat does that mean? i guess Wikipedia (citing... is right there don't sue me...) can't make things simple. okay here's the simple definition if you are not a chinese know it all unlike me.

Simpler Defintion ;)
In Chinese, "feng" means "wind" and "shui" means "water." It is the Chinese practice of placing objects based on a belief in patters of yin. Supposedly targeting specific emotions and changing them.

What is Feng Shui? This is a simple question that can be difficult to answer. Feng Shui is an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It is a complex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure the health and good fortune for people inhabiting it.

Feng means wind and shui means water. In Chinese culture wind and water are associated with good health, thus good feng shui came to mean good fortune, while bad feng shui means bad luck, or misfortune.

Feng Shui is based on the Taoist vision and understanding of nature, particularly on the idea that the land is alive and filled with Chi, or energy. The ancient Chinese believed that the land's energy could either make or break the kingdom, so to speak. The theories of yin and yang, as well as the five feng shui elements, are some of the basic aspects of a feng shui analysis that come from Taoism.

still confused? well let's try what i got out of this

Sarah's gist:
okay well i don't believe in all that buhdissm or however you spell it, but i think feng shui is a cool way of interior decoration. it is basically a way to follow, in my opinion like, an art concept, like watercolor painting for instance.

get it now? took me a while too...

anyway my point of giving you a feng shui is because i want to try more hobbies like dance, art, etc. this summer instead of being a lazy butt on the computer on the couch in the house all day when i could be getting outside doing something fun, i mean you gotta agree with that. so i was looking at a bunch of blogs the other day, and i came across this post about feng shui art, and i was like woaaaah! that looks cool! so anyway i looked up the definition and you can already tell that didnt help me so i looked at feng shui under images, that helped more... anyway so i encourage you to try do something fun this summer, get a hobby or do something useful. If you're thinking right now... well what kind of hobby, and then ur like i cant do this just stop cuz here's a list of some fun hobbies people i know like:
dance
swimming
art
photography
blogging
shopping ;) (my fave hobby)
sports
reading
finding new kinds of candy
writing movie reviews or just watching the movies if ur lazy like me XD
texting...
writing letters, no body does that anymore and thats kinda a cool way to communicate cuz like evrybody texts now adays
learning a new language
ice skating
sewing
knitting and chroceting (im serious)
getting into a new genre of music..
etc,etc,etc.

for more hobbies look up hobbies on google its not that hard!! even i can do it.

When you're a bit stressed

Do you have finals? Pressure about Graduating? Worried about if you can pass your classes? Well, if you are, don't worry, I know how you feel, except I'm not graduating yet, (thankfully.) Anyway, my mentality/philosophy during this time is: " Work. Work. Work. Even when everything is done work for extra points! There is no goal you think of that you can't achieve, if you put your mind to it. You may be tired, but you have what, a week left? Save the rest for summer and get done what you have to do. There's only a few days left, you can do it!!" Remember God is there for you too, He's the one to go to if you're feeling over-stressed. He will help you through it, if you ask for that, and guidence as well. Therefore, I encourage you, finish this year off with a BANG! (Whatever that phrase means...)
